- Innkeeper - 05-10-2001 1998 Gianni Gagliardo, Dolcetto D'Alba DOC ($13). As usual the fragrance was very powerful. Lots of red fruit upfront, smooth tannin across the palate, and a very nice finish. Had to look out for a little sediment in the bottle as we did for a '98 CDR Village last night. Don't know if this comes from storing bottles upsidedown before we find a place for them in the rack. At any rate it married nicely with sauteed ham slices in cream sauce and spinach. - Innkeeper - 06-01-2001 This wine is the liquid definition of the color purple. This time we ran the whole bottle through a dioxane free coffee filter. Made the wine much more enjoyable. Don't have an idea why so much crud gathered in the bottle in just a little over two years. Married nicely with grillpanned smoked pork chops. [This message has been edited by Innkeeper (edited 06-01-2001).] |
