It seems that it is getting harder and harder to find a pleasurable Pinot for less than $25 anymore. Imagine my surprise when I tried a lovely one for only $14 (or was it $12).

1997 Sonoma Creek Pinot Noir, Sonoma County, $12-14. A very good bargain that is drinking well now, and over the next year or two. Currants and cherries on the nose as well as the palate, along with tea flavors, good acidity and soft tannins. This wine will match a host of foods.

Bucko -

once again, thanks for the tip. That one's pretty widely available here in the Northeast.

One of the great things about the '97 vintage is that there were so many grapes and so much juice, that there's plenty of wine to go around!!!

97 was a great year - 97 Zins at ZAP showed it very clearly.
