Ordered a half bottle of the 2005 vintage from the wine list at Pewter Rose Bistro in Charlotte with Friday's lunch. They brought out the 2006 vintage but that was okay. I asked the waiter if Pewter Rose hosted one of the wine dinners on Thursday. Apparently they didn't but he said they had in a large group of wine tasting folks about 9:00 AM Friday morning! Probably ITB people.

The Steele Carneros Pinot Noir was listed at 13.5 % alcohol. Garnet color; some transparency. Cherry nose and flavor; smooth, delectable. Fruity but not sweet. Medium to long finish. Subtle oak providing spice and framing for the wine. I almost always like the Steele Carneros Pinot Noir. The waiter remarked that it was one of his favorites on the wine list.
I had this with a goat cheese lemon salad (the cheese, red and green lettuce leaves, orange segments, roasted pecans and lemon-thyme vinaigrette--yummy) and a pimiento bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwich on wheat bread. Except for the bacon, Dan of Dananne could have had this meal.

I must be getting hungry...salivating at that description.... sounded like a great lunch....

You had me until the bacon . . .

I find Steele a reliable producer of both Pinot and Zin. Good for the price, too.

Yes, I like Steele Zins too for the most part (only one I had from Mendocino that didn't d0 much for me.) And the prices are reasonable.
