Had this with left-over pork and baked sweet potaoes tonight. Good grief, a major blast of funk upon opening! Cork came out 'way too easily, and was worried about spoilage. But held my nose and decanted, leaving it for an hour.... funk blew off, revealing a nice bed of fruit. Color of cranberries. Good structure, with earth definitely present but no longer offensive; now two hours and the nose is like a cru Beaujolais, a Moulin-a-Vent. Moderate finish, good food wine. 12% alcohol and $13.49 at Costco back in May of '03.

Had Vacu-vin'd the remainder last night, about two glasses, and just tried again. Much improved - funk is completely gone and subtle jammy berries are up front, finish has lengthened by half. A bargain burg that just needs a little patience, like a ..... naw, don't go there....Georgie would send me back to that corner....

That IS a bargain price for even a village Chambolle-Musigny. Glad it rewarded your patience.
