2005 Castle Rock, Sonoma County, Pinot Noir ($12.99 NH Liq Store). Alcohol level 14.5%. Well, they've gone uptown; at least on price.

It is a very nice Pinot though; better than most in the $10 range. Gives a load of red and black cherry fruit on the nose and upfront. More fruit, smooth tannin, and a little Somonan dirt fill the middle, and the finish lingers.

Matched it with the last Coq Au Vin from our '02 Morgan, pilaf, and green beans almondine. Why all this on a Monday night? We had a house guest.

Yes, I think Castle Rock P. N. is generally a pretty good bargain.
