Oregon, USA.
I've read hype and was told good things by the wine store employee but a very average pinot. Varietal correct but almost boring. Flavors are somewhat muted of red berry, cola and tea with a shortish finish. 13.5%Alc/vol. $20. Not eager to buy again. Could be an off bottle.

I've had several $20ish Oregon Pinot's that seem muted. I think they're just not ready to drink yet, considering the marks the vintage got. Cloudline and Argyle come to mind immediately.

Some of the Oregon '05s we've had lately are really singing right now, so I can't explain it. As for the A to Z, maybe they just got too big too fast and let quality slip -- heck, they went from about 2,500 cases from surplus juice in '02 to over 100K cases last year. Plus, they recently bought Rex Hill, so I'm sure they've got a lot on their plate. I haven't tried the '05 A to Z yet, though, so I can't comment from experience.
