- wondersofwine - 09-11-2006 A monopole--only grower/winemaker for this particular vineyard in Burgundy. 13.5% alcohol Deep crimson color, paler rosered around the rim of the glass. Nose of Rainier cherries. Sour cherry on the palate (pleasant with cheese or other appropriate food). Medium-long finish, well-balanced. Enjoyed it more the second night. It seemed less tart and complemented a thick pork chop topped with Gorgonzola cheese. Really quite nice. Zachy's advertises as a serious bottle of red Burgundy for $25 and says they couldn't keep the 2002 in stock. Burghound (Allen Meadows) says it offers first-rate quality for a very modest price. Burghound, however, found cassis and black fruit rather than the cherries I thought I detected. - Innkeeper - 09-11-2006 Different smells for different folks. |
