Lo after these meeny yars and untold dollars I FINALLY found a sock-roller-downer Burgandy. 1998 Domaine Gros Frere et Souer Clos Vouget. Took to the club with my usual trepidation and as I was alone had Mace(Barkeep) pour himself a shot also. The nose originally was shy but in less than 5 minutes this sucker enveloped our whole end. Violets, fresh baguetts from the oven, meaty notes, fresh cut hay, and black fruits dominate. All hit the palate like Mannings passes. We poured for everyone at the bar and it was unanimous....BEST juice they'd ever had. FIRST time I've ever had anything from this fickle area that hit over 3 lappers. 95/92 55 by the box. Solid 4+ lapper. 11-14%alc. WW

Why I love Burgundies. I have a Gros Frere and Soeur (sp?) in my inventory but probably a Premier Cru, not a Grand Cru. Love it when the aroma/nose/bouquet just takes over the table. I even had that once with a Jed Steele Carneros Pinot Noir at a restaurant in Florida.
