My first posting on the new-look board. This vineyard is in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Stelvin cap. 13.7% alcohol
Glittering deep purple-red. Slightly tannic at first with brooding dark fruit (dark plums and boysenberries on the palate.)
I was disappointed in the wine the first evening--it seemed harsh, lacking in real fruitiness. By the second and third evening that corrected itself. Needs decantin, aeration, or an extra year or two in bottle. This was the first of the 2005 order I have opened.
