I received a bottle of Saint Estephe 1997 Borddeaux, but haven't been able to get much information on it. Can someone help me out? I would like to know the region, the year, the quality, the price, etc?

Thanks

Welcome to the WineBoard, billarno. Have a relative who's a police officer in Folsom. Bordeaux is the region. St. Estephe is the commune within Bordeaux. What you haven't told us is the name of the winery. It's there on the bottle somewhere.

Relative needs to go back to the Academy for a refresher. Missed the following:

Grapes picked before 1998 and after 1996. Our profiler speculates the second half of 1997 and there's an 82% chance the picker was French.

If we had the bottle, we could do a more complete investigation.

Relative didn't answer. Besides, about the only wine he drinks is port.

Thanks for the response. It's from Chateau Meyney. Folsom is a small town, I have only been here a year, but have been stopped twice for small things, like my frt windows were too dark...Oh well everybody has a job to do.

I grew up in Ct. And lived in Charlston, MA for about 4 years when I was working in Boston.

Hi billarno and welcome to the board. Meyney is one of the top vineyards in St. Estephe. Their wines are dominately Cabernet Sauvignon(70%) with Merlot(25%), and small amounts of Petite Verdot and Cab Franc making up the balance. 97 was a good, not great vintage in the region. The bottle, if properly stored, should peak in another 2-3 years. If you don't have adequate storage would suggest oppening sooner. WW

Thanks everyone for your response to my questions. I really appreciate it.

Can anyone give me the approximate cost of a bottle of the 97 Bordeaux?

- winoweenie - 06-09-2005

17 to 30 depending on when it was purchased. WW
