($29.99; 12.5%) dark reddish-purple. full nose of black cherry, other dark fruits and hints of earth and cedar. this brooding wine was pretty closed at first. intial muted flavors of dark fruits and earth, with dark chocolate on the rather short finish. the wine had a medium mouthfeel, with decent acidity and medium tannins. after double decanting for 90 minutes, the intensity level of the flavors increased dramatically and the finish lengthened. this "second" label of Chateau Montrose is quality juice, but needs a little more time. best after 2007. 90+ points.
