2000 Chateau Segonzac, Cru Bourgeois, Cotes De Blaye ($15 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Picked this one up in January, and the vendor recommended holding it for six months. Since today is Bastille Day, thought we'd take his advice. Decanted it an hour ahead to be on the safe side. It was right on. A blast of black fruit on the nose and upfront. Perfectly balanced with nice earthy complexity, integrated acidity, and chewy tannin. The finish brought smiles on both of us. Enjoyed it with grillpanned boneless sliced sirloin, and salad. "Allons de la patria."
