Does anyone have any tasting notes on the
1993 Chateau La Tour Carnet?

Thanks in advance!!

Sorry, I haven't turned up my tasting notes yet(must get more organized).

However I do know the winemaker. Would you like me to e-mail him and see if he has some comments about this wine?

If you could do that, I'd be most appreciative.

Thank-you-very-much for the offer.

E-mail sent. We'll hope for a reply from Philippe soon.

Do you ever travel to Bordeaux? You might like to know that Philippe's lovely wife, Monika, has a small bed and breakfast at their home and you couldn't find a more delightful couple. They're fluent in English and Monika speaks German as well. So if your French is as bad is mine, it's a boon.

Very knowledgeable, of course, and she can set up visits at the wineries for travelers. There's a separate cottage as well as a few rooms in the house.

They have a web site at www.travel.to/medoc. Just click on the flag for the language you want. Highly recommended.

It has been several years since I've been to France. I regret to say that I have yet to visit Bourdeaux. I've been to Paris several times and have visited the Mediterranean Coast in Marseilles, Toulon, St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice and the areas along the coast into Monte Carlo and on into Italy to Porto Fino and Genoa. My "adventures" are limited to Provence and Liguria.

But that will not prevent a virtual visit. Thanks for the web site. I'll pay them a visit as soon as I can.

Philippe sent his reply directly to me. It was quite detailed and included tasting notes from a few years ago for the 1993. He also gave me some information on the vintage in general and on the composition of the wine.

He even took the time to open a bottle and taste it again so he provided me with some up to date information.

Of course, these are notes based on his palette. But when the palatte belongs to the winemaker I take the comments quite seriously.

For Zinner:

Thank you ever-so-much for your help!!

You are ever-so-welcome.

My computer has been down and I came on-line to find several e-mails from Philippe. He is interested in the Wine Board, so perhaps he will reply on it to some questions sometime. His comments are always most interesting.

Hope you get to Bordeaux someday!
