Another sleeper at the discounter, this one is a classic blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, and all of $6.49. Nose and palate suggest ratios of Merlot and CS are reversed. A simple table wine, not for aging, but an easy quaffer with cheeses, and quite a bargain. Alcohol content is 12% and the bottle's pretty, with grapevines etched around the shoulders. Note that the script spelling of "Yvecourt" makes it look like "Wecourt".

Somebody tell me who in California can make a Bordeaux blend like this and peddle it retail for $6.49?

i am in retail, i have just taken on the yvecourt line and i can tell you their wines as you noted are excellent for the money. i do carry the one you are refering to. it comes shipped in a wood case, great looking bottle and the blend is excellent. not all bordeaux has to be elevated prices.
