Had dinner tonight in Vieux Quebec at a restaurant called Ancien Canadian. Very rustic Quebec food....nicely done once you get the rustic part of it.

Had a glass of this bordeaux, ripe fruit, berries, simple, some oak, medium+ body, simple, nothing much else beyond this. More compelling wines elsewhere.

Meal though was great

A game bird pate
Potato and Leek Soup
Pheasant pie and Steak/Turkey stew
Flan dessert and coffee.....I'm stuffed,....

We've eaten there a couple of times. Great place! The official name is: Restaurant Aux Anciens Canadiens.

I agree IK, I had a hard time trying to decide what I wanted. I really wanted something called Grandpa's surprise which is pig and boar hock. The meals are hardy, honest, and nicely prepared. The Pheasant pie was very very nice. The Pate came with a carrot confiture that was very sweet but one of the best palate cleaners that I've every had with pate. This thing was a great opponent of the pate and it prepared the palate for anothr bite of the pate. Enjoyed the meal thoroughly.

Servings were huge...... I enjoyed every bite!
