This was at a free tasting of white and red burgundies. I wasn't that impressed with most of those offered--felt that among the red burgundies the Arlaud Morey-St.-Denis "Millandes" was better in 1999 than 2000 (had and purchased the 1999 at earlier tastings. This time we tasted the 2000). I did find the 2000 Arlaud Bourgogne "Roncevie" VV (old vines) at $17.99 or $14.39 by the case to be a food-friendly red burgundy.
Now for the Meursault "Charmes"--big bouqet, pale gold color, mouth-filling texture. This was my favorite of the nine burgundies tasted. It was also the favorite of another couple tasting just ahead of me. Price is $54.99 a bottle or $43.99 by the case.
