I have a bottle of Lowengang Chardonnay 1992. I know nothing about wine. Does anyone know anything about this wine? Is it drinkable? Maybe even valuable?
Thanks.

This Italian Chardonnay is supposed to be good, and the producer was a pioneer with the variety in the region. Current releases go for about $23, and some restaurant wine lists have older bottles for $50-$75. I, however, have no knowledge on how well these hold up to aging, and it's 14 years old. Obviously, storage for these many years will be a big part of it -- without optimal storage, it is probably dead. With good storage, who knows? Perhaps someone else on the board will have a better idea on how these age, but my guess is there's only one way to find out -- find the right evening and pop the cork, having a back-up bottle ready in case it's gone. As for value, single bottles of unsure provinence don't command a lot of interest, but you could always try winebid.com or winecommune.com.
