1996 Simi Chardonnay, Reserve, Russian River, $29, new release. This is a very elegant, luscious wine, with complex fruit that stands up to the new French Oak (a little too much for my palate). Match this beauty with lobster, mahi mahi, or sweetbreads.

I'm a fan of that oak level...added note..Simi's Chards have a track record of ageability. Winemaker and NZ import Nick Goldschmidt...and his Chards hold nicely (improve even) for from 5-10 years.
