I am am new to learing about wine and I have 2 questions about a bottle of wine I was given.

It is a 1997 Hess Select CS and has been refridgerated for 2 yrs or so (given to me that way)...is it still good? I know you don't put reds in the fridge, so I am not sure how it will affect the wine.

When is this wine supposed to "be in its prime"?

Thanks for any help and info.

Jenn

Hi Bluesdiva and welcome to the board. The only way to know for sure is open and try. It is ready vintagewise. One big factor is whether it was standing up in the fridge or laying down. Laying down would be the lesser of two evils keeping the cork wet, but as you said, the fridge is not a place for wine storage. Pop her open and hope for the best. If you are entertaining, have a backup ready and you are all set.

Hi BluesDiva and welcome to the board. The Hess select does not have the structure nor staying power of the Collection but because of the strenght of the vintage should be good. Let it stand at room tempurature fo an hour or so and then open it. Fridge temps are too low for cabs to show. This bottle needs opening. Good luck. WW
