$45. remarkably dark, nearly opaque, out of the bottle. first whiff reminded me of the 98 lafite-rothschild i tried earlier this year. dark fruits (including cassis) and a hint of earth. in the mouth, this wine was closed tight. nice fruit on the tip of the tongue, but by midpalate tannins already were shutting it down. only after being in the decanter for four hours did it start opening a bit more. this is a very tasty, classy wine that i think will eventually become outstanding. but it's not nearly ready. if you have some, i wouldn't even think of trying the first bottle for another 3-5 years.

and in case you're wondering, i had to open this to share with friends who just had a baby. they were with me when i bought the bottle last winter, and i said we'd open it for the first dinner together after they have a baby. of course when i said that, i didn't think she'd be getting pregnant for another 2-3 years. she actually got pregnant that month. oops

A fine supplier and an ager. Zelma has made many great bottles during her long and illuminated carrier. The 95 will go for as long as you can pay the electric bill. WW
