The 2 back-up wines for the 1981, these 2 lovely bottlings derned near took a back seat. The 95 Alex was nearing the top of its' game with silky, slinky, subtle tannins that carressed the palate like a 20-buck massuese at the start of business on Monday, beautifully balanced fruit and spices that give the impression of early spring, and a finish that stays until maiden Aunt Jackie goes to bed. The more weighty, structured Napa mottling still has a way to go. Lovely in the mouth but still needing another 3-5 to hit "High-C" this wine would have been a star except for the company it was presented. Lots of stuffing for the future. Great stuff. WW
