WOW!!!! Mitch Consentino has finally got my undivided attention. This blend of 75% Cab, 10% Cab Franc, 10% Merlot, and 5% Petite Verdot hits a homer.Beautiful deep ruby with a nose of violets, spices ( Caramon?) and a malted milk, laced with vanilla nuances. All of this comes across on the velvet entry, strong center and a 4-lapper finish.Hate to post on this beauty as it is highly allocated but in case some of you can get your mits on some swayed my judgement. Can't ever thinking a 70 bucker would ever be thought of as a bargain but this baby qualifies. Hopefully some of you mite land some. WW 93/90

Opened another of these for lunch yesterday and my expectations were met and then some. The seductively floral nose has a complete array of flowers like you get on entering a flower shop. Sweet spices, ripe red fruit and a touch of vanilla hit the nose. All come over on the palate along with a creamy cassis and red plums accented with bakers cocoa. Should kick this hummer up but noticed I gave it almost a classic rating on first taste. Maybe next bottle. WW

Had this to ring in the start of a winning Cardinal Season. This is a big, bad, stunningly sensuous bottle of juice that will still get a tad more serious. Nose has so much going on I had to stop and tell the ole schnozz to slow down as my tired brain-stems done' function quite as rapidly as in me youth. Kick-patootie entry, center and a 4&1/2 lapper finish. This sucker keeps-on-keepin'-on. Still needs another 1-2 to reach the apex. Tempted but will keep it under classic for the time being. WW

Had lunch with some friends in from Denver yesterday and took a bottle of this. He is a dedicated Franco-Phile and has bought at the Hospices de Beaune auction and imported his own burgandies for years. Both JC and his BH were definately impressed with this dude. It showed its' best and I promised I'd give him some when they returned in Feb/March. I thot it'd be only fair as I looked at some of the bottles he's given me over the last year or so....2002 Hospices de Beaune Mazis Chambertin Cuvee Madeline Collignon(he bought the whole offering of about 600 cases), 2005 Hospices de Batard Montrachet Cuvee Dames de Flandres and 2 bottles of Maison Sylvain Loichet Clos de Vougeot. Maybe I should ask for another bottle of the Mazis to make the trade even? WW

Was going on a sabbatical yesterday when that lil' horned guy on me shoulder says "Afore youse do this treat the ole taste-buds". Pulled another of these hummers and the devil be rite! From memory the only reaal improvement is in the nose. The floral notes leap outta' the glass. The finish seems longer too. Really an enjoyable way to sit 'round and contemplate a sabbatical. WW

After the debacle at the doctors yesterday I grabbed one of these to sooth me frazzled nervous. Still delivering a boatload of goodies. Heard on the grapevine that Mitch had filed for bankruptcy. Any one with further knowledge? Tough times ahead for the hard-headed. WW
