We recently opened this wine and enjoyed it! Please supply info on this winery, where to purchase another one and cost if known. We received this one as a gift and assume it's a very good one as the taste supports it! The label states the winery is Silver Oak Cellars in Oakville, CA. Do they make other wines or just the Cab? Our favorite is a crisp oak flavored Chardonnay, however. Thank you for any help you could give us.

Winoweenie, or WW is one of the experts on cabernet sauvignon. Hope he replies. However, I do know that Silver Oak is highly rated and expensive. Some of the wines are quite tannic when young and need some aging to mellow out. It should be available through a good retailer, although it may be enough in demand that you might have to order by the case or as futures (2001 cabernet sauvignons are being released this fall.)

I believe the website is www.silveroak.com. It seems they specialize in cabernet sauvignon wines ("Life is a Cabernet"). There is a link on the website for retail dealers that handle their wines (enter your zip code for closest dealer) but I didn't check how recently the website was updated.

Hi Sue and welcome to the board. Silver Oak is a Cabernet specialist that makes two offerings a vintage; Alexander Valley and Napa. You didn't specify which you received. The Napa is normally slightly more expensive. The Napa has very distincttive bottling (Dark bottle with lettering etched on bottle in silver lettering). Silver Oaks Co-Owner/Winemaker Justin Meyer and his partner sold the winery for loads of dollars. The 95 of both bottling are long gone as there is normally a waiting list of buyers lined up for this fine wine. The Alex Valley sold for 49 at issue. The current retail is around 125 per bottle. The Napa sold for 69 and currently retails at around 145. The next release of the wine will be the end of August, the 99 vintage. Guessing the Alex will be around 69 and the Napa close to the century mark. WW
