- winoweenie - 12-02-2005 The last in my run on the 96 vintage for awhile. Brite medium ruby. Nose of cassis, plummy notes, blackberries, with a lite dose of vanilla. Elegant entry that is more Bordeaux-like than Calif, a weighty center and a solid 4&1/2 lapper finish. Another in a long line of great Spottswood bottlings. Still needs another 2-4 to completely shed the silky tannins. Will hold meeny more. 93/95. 65 by the box. 14% alc.WW - winoweenie - 04-09-2008 Opened another for lunch today. Aromatics are stunning. Filled the whole room whilst I went to get a clean stem. Roses, violets, red plums, brite cherries and a touch of earth. Explosive entry, weighty center, and a 4&1/2 lapper finish. Close to going classic. WW |
