13% alcohol; inky purple color
nose: black currants, blackberries, cedar
palate: hint of coffee underlying dark fruits, boysenberry, some wood notes; chewy quality
slight bit of sediment at the end of the bottle
solid if unexciting; probably not much future to this vintage

Hi WOW and I take it you're talking about the Napa bottling. This winery was going thru lots of turmoil in the late 80s' and early 90s'. Losing Rick Forman, their parent Co. and very little direction made this time frame tenuous for this great property. They even managed to screw-up the wines from the Diamond Mtn. property rite above Als' Volcanic Hill. Think that they now have the personell to produce some super juice. The 97 Dia. Mtn is a piece of work. Drink that 93 up. WW

That was my only bottle of the '93 vintage (it was the Napa wine). I have a '97 and a '99 to try later. I think I had the '99 at a restuarant and liked it but still didn't find it exciting. Bet the Diamond Mountain is in a whole other class!
