This hound can hunt. An absolutely finished
version of this stellar Napa cab. Brite ruby color. Sweet spices, red fruits, cassis, and the famous "dust" are on the nose and come across on the palate along with some cocoa and pencil shavings. Clean entry, solid center and a lovely 4-lapper finish put this in the upper echelon. 90/95.
13 by the box. 13% alc. WW

I finished the last of mine a year ago and it had plenty of life left and was a very nice drink. Hope my '97s drink as well at 10.

BigRedWines and meself had this and the 94 Hess Collection today at lunch. This wine is holding dead-on at peak and makes sense about cellaring the 2nd wines of the venerable Napa vineyards. Would be hard to find a hole in this lovely. If any change in scoring would be upward. The 94 Hess Collection still thinks it's an 04. Massive amounts of fruit and spice nestled in back of a huge mantle of tannins that will take this hummer another 3-5 before peaking. Killer bottling from the Mt.Veeder district. After 1&1/2 hours it finally showed where it was heading.... Solid cab fruits, spice, clove, some touches of menthol and a bunch of leather and earth on the finish. Kick-Patootie bottling that is just starting to show its' breeding. 91/94. 20 by the box. WW
