Barnsey, what I think is going on here is we`re all turning blue holding our breath `till you either ask a question or tell us something. Most everyone on this board have been drinking Ch. Souverain for MEENY,MEENY, years and are very familiar with where it`s located...SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.winoweenie

To Bucko: Whaaaaattttt??????

- RAD - 08-10-2000

Okay, hope I'm not dating myself too badly nor becoming the resident pop culture critic with this quasi-explanation, but Bucko is paraphrasing from the pop hit "Brand New Key" by Melanie, which was a #1 hit in 1971, along with "Brown Sugar" by the Stones, "Family Affair" by Sly and the Family Stone, "Go Away Little Girl" by Donny Osmond, and "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" by Cher, to name but a few.

The connection, though, is anybody's guess.

Wait, Bucko, I just got it! My post-grad lit crit efforts are finally kicking in!

But I'll let you explain.

You guys need to keep up with the program...... a mind is a terrible thing to waste, just ask me.

Oops, Looks like i provided some entertainment for you folks. I guess I can chalk this one up to being new to the board. Well, the intent was to ask the quality of this wine and the recommended storage length, keeping in mind i don't exactly the most ideal 'cellar.' Although its not bad, its not the optimal choice.

Hey RAD, I knew the song, just couldn't accept the reference. Whatever happened to Melanie?

If I think hard, I suppose Bucko was saying that IK took up Foodie's mantle--but Bucko? That's a stretch for the old man, you know....

As for the storage length of the wine, et al, speak to winoweenie.

- Innkeeper - 08-11-2000

Barnesy, other than your original question/statement, all the rest of this is just our end of week frivolity. The Chateau Souverain, Alexander Valley, Cabernet is a nice, steady wine that is ready to drink now, and may improve with a year or two in the "cellar."

Hey Barnsey, As you can see it doesn`t take much to have a feeding frenzy here at the ole` board. The 96 is still, INHO, a little hard around the edge. From the sound of your storage ( Guessing a closet ) , I`d suggest popping that lil` sucker around the 1st of the coming yar.The 97 is a little more lush and rewards with earkier accessibility. Ch. Souverain is a very consistant (as Foodie stated) and reliable producer of " Bang-for-the-Buck" wines yarly.Have fun, and don`t forget, to get answers you`se needa` ast them questions. winoweenie
