I just checked my local shops web site. $21.99. I guess I should stock up before they jump on the price increase bandwagon. Do you guys reccommend saving this wine or drinking now?

Well GAD I think the wine will get better for the next 5-7 and hold for 5-10 after that. WW

This ride's getting a little wilder now. I stopped in a wine store a couple of miles from me tonight and lo and behold.... a case and 1/2 of the '99 Artesa for $15.30 per bottle case price.....GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna return the other case tomorrow and switch for a case of '97 Gallo Frei. Sometimes life is very good.

Sounds like the distributor up there is really screwed up. Lay it on 'em Drewski. WW

I finally spotted two of 'em on a supermarket shelf this morning at $25.99 per and grabbed 'em.

A big supermarket had it, and the big wine shops haven't seen it - go figure.

I'll tell ya what's weird, it's all over the place here. Every wine shop I enter has the '98 and the '99.

Confounded distribution system is screwed up like Hogan's goat! But as mentioned earlier...it's probably best that it's so scarce in these parts....if it was plentiful, I'd be in really deep doo-doo (instead of just the knee-deep stuff I'm in now).

Had the '98 tonight with oak-grilled sirloin, baked spuds and steamed brocolli. V-e-r-y nice. Finishing with chocolate cake and either Champagne or Port......yee-haw!

- hotwine - 05-23-2004

Had another '98 tonight with NY strips, asparagus spears, sliced yellow squash, button 'shrooms, pearl onions and zucchini, all off an oak fire. V-e-r-y nice with cassis, chocolate and a tad of cigar box on the nose and palate. Perfecto with the grilled goodies. Steaks were two-inchers from Costco dusted with my M-1/A-1 all-purpose dry rub (equal parts black pepper, white pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and Lawry's Seasoned Salt. It's real hard to screw that up.)

Hotsie I thot this was originally posted on the 99. Intend to open a bottle agin' tomorrow nite. A miracle happened and tonite I'm attending the graduation from high school of another grand-son. Brite, articulate, handsome, and the lazyiest piece of work born with all appendages intact. How this transpired is worthy of a segment on " Mystery Theatre ". I'll Take It Ennyways It Happened!. Yeah, Drewskie started the thread with the '99 but I added notes on the '98. Guilty. Best wishes for your shiftless grandson.

Opened one last nite after Grandsons' graduation party. Dark ruby with nice aromatics coming on with the extra bottle time. Black fruits, with lots of yummy plummy nuances, coriander, cassis, and earth all come thru on the palate. Still with some silky tannins to shed, but a swinging drink. 91/95. 25 by the box.14.4% alc.
