Boy what a difference a year makes. This turned from hard as nails to nailing excellence. Deep ruby, cassis, cherry and currant aromas fill the nose and all come across on the palate along with a liberal dose of earth and chocolate. Deep flavors hit the taste-buds, a heavy-weight center, and a kick-patootie 4+-lapper finish finishes off this bottle. This lovely Calistoga property has sold grapes to some of the most prestigious labels in Napa. Not sure but think this may have been their initial release of their own label. 91/89. A little pricey at the time but now definately worth the bucks. 48 by the box. 13.5% alc. WW

Had a bottle for lunch today and this is really comeing around. Nose is more floral than the last bottle and the finish seems to be getting a little longer. A super bottle that is close to the top pf its' game. No change in scoring. WW

Opened the last of these yesterday. As usual when saying bye-bye to a lovely bottling I had buyers remorse(Why dint' I buy 2 cases?).This has hit its' full stride but if anyone has some in the cellar it'll hold another 6-10.Among the spices noted yesterday is a hint of dill and cumin. Fleshed out and approachinbg the magical 5-lapper finish but just shy.92/90 now. WW
