A lot of hype about this wine forced me to pop one last night. Clear dark color. Nose of blackberry and ripe plum not distinct or overly inviting. Like flavors with some vanilla and a little chocolate, medium length finish. Seemed to improve over the next 2 hours. 13.5% Alc/vol $11. A nice wine and I'll try another soon but I'm not ready to proclaim it a QPR yet.

At $11 I think this wine might loose some of the hype. I saw the '97 today as well at a local retailer for $10, I was surprised at the increase. This wine used to consistantly show well in our under $8 tastings (we were buying the '95 for $5.99), but I think at 10 or 11 bucks there's much less to rave about.

All by myself tonight. Popped another and I'll claim a QPR now. Sweet blackberry and plum notes on a good frame with a 20+Sec finish. very nice for the 9 bucks I paid for the rest of the bottles I'm hording. Paired with a wonderfully grilled tenderloin steak with baked taters, and grilled broccoli... Wonderful. 13.5% Alc/vol.
