Picked up this bottle from the basement...needed to treat myself for Friday.

So at 10 years old, this thing is looking more and more bordeaux, except that it still has the sunniness of CA. The fruit, which must have been more forward has started to subside a bit but is still front and center, hints of barnyard, herbs, graphite, oranges, and leather. Ages has softened the tannins somewhat and there is a nice complexity to this wine. Really enjoyable at this point!

This is one of the big ? marks of Napa producers. Have had some absolutely stunning bottles drom them and others I liken to Trader Joes' better bottles. Haven't had the 99 but will see if I squirreled away any. Like the little girle with the little curl. WW

WW,

It was a pretty good bottle but I'm not sure if it would have been a stunner. While bordeaux like with a dram of deep ripe California juice poured in, what kept it from being a stunner for me was a bit of austerity in the midpalate. I was hoping for a bit more punch there but other than that, it was a fine bottle.
