Drove to Prescott yesterday to visit my daughter who'd just returned after a month in Rome, Paris, and Hamburg with her boyfriend buying silver. Stopped in Murphys and tho' I'd been told that J.D.(Az Wino) wouldn't be there lo and behold there he be greeting prople at the entrance. He's been out for several weeks and his wife has had some problems so he hasn't been posting for some time but is anxious to get back online. The Lohr was definately a nice bottle for the money and shows the promise of this fine vintage. Wasn't really payiong attention to this bottle other than to verify it was a nice drink. WW

I'm sorta in a rut meself just drinking some daily drinkers that I have a lot of. I've sampled some new ones at favorite haunts but nothing exciting to report. Now, with that said, I have been sampling some 05 CDR's, just a few, and they seem stunning. I'm excited about the vintage.

Well, made pizza last night down at the Gardenia*. Opened up an 04 Syrahtica from X Winery that was very nice with dark berries, cherries and pepper. Unfortunately, the bottle emptied faster than I could get the pizza done, so had to open another bottle. This was a Mazzi Negramaro - also a nice wine.

* Gardenia is Don's place down near the boat. We stay there when we're working on the boat or sailing.

Who's Don? WW

Don's my friend of about 35 years. He lives way up in Northern CT where he's a college math professor, and he owns another house down on LI Sound where we stay when we're sailing on one of his boats (two houses, two boats - we shamelessly impinge upon his hospitality). He also accompanies us on our wine travels - WA two years ago, Napa/Sonoma last year and Finger Lakes coming up this year. He'll be with us when we come out to Phoenix in June (as well as WA again right after that). He's currently single, but looking.
