Had a business lunch with a friend yesterday at the club and decided it was time to break out these 2 forgotten bottles of 97s. Started with the Terraces. This was a jump-start, not a gentle ignition. Deep ruby with no bricking. Nose had the whole package. After we both took a sip his face lit up like a roman candle. What a bottle. The Ristow was next and as we both had lowered expectations were bowled over by this sucker. Both are from the Napa appelation and are (or were) limited production cabs. Got into biz discussion then but grading from memory both would score in the mid-90s. WW

I ordered some Ristow Quinta de Pedras (more recent vintage) from Carolina Wine Company but I think that was one that I never received before they went into bankruptcy.

Too bad WOW. There is no more Ristow being estate bottled after the 04. They are content to sell their superb grapes. WW

Took a Ristow and a 97 Corison to San Diego and consumed both at lunch Wed with 2 of my close buds. One has an excellent palate and drinks mostly 1st class Bordeaux and he was really impressed with these 2 Napa beauties. The Corison was especially old worldly but the Ristow is a sock-roller. As usual nothing written as we were too busy fibbing to each other. Both easily in the 90s'. WW
