Just plain poor. I am getting very tired of opening $ cab's with bad results. A touch of black fruit and cherries and maybe some chocolate. Otherwise a waste of time and money. WS gave it an 88. I would be generous with a 84.

Who produces this wine?

When I frist read your subject I thought it read "corrosion."

This is Cathy Corison's own label. She is also the winemaker for Long Meadow Ranch which is generally rated higher than her own label. She started out in 78 making wine for Freemark Abby and then put in ten years as head winemaker at Chappellet. This wine is one of many that has jumped to a $60+ price range and does not produce the wine to back it up.

Glass-a-day,

Based on posts that I read on another wine-oriented Web site, those $60 bottles have to be good; how else can so many people justify following the gurus who point us to them.

There's a lot of marketing (and pricing) behind mediocre wines these days, and not necessarily at the low end.

I am beginning to become a curmudgeon on the issue--beginning to???--just to beat ww to it.

Corison ... think that is up between Rutherford and St. Helena on 29, next to Milat Family.

I have had some marvelous bottles from Cathy. The 92, 93, 94, 96, and 97 are in my cellar and have all rated above the 90 mark. For some reason I didn't buy the 99 and it was probably because my cellar be full. Think I'll pull one of the 96s' tonite. STRANGE!!!!WW

Said it before and will say it again; if only I had the ol' weiner as a personal buyer for me these mistakes would be few and far between...

Opened a 96 last nite. Deep red. Very floral aromatics. lovely entry. Solid center and a 4&1/2-lapper finish. a solid 92/91. 44 by the box. 12.8% alc. WW (Posting this while waiting for the super-shuttle to the airport.)

A comprehensive buying list each vintage would be perfect WW.
