CB and I met BRW and his CB for lunch and he jhad mentioned he hadn't had the pleezure of drinking some juice from Heitz.....So that oversight had to be corrected. The Trailside looked like it had just been bottled. Deep tuby. Lovely nose of all kinds of berries, sweet spices, and pencil shavimngs. All explode on the palate with a burst of cassis on the finish. Great entry, solid center and a 4&1/2 lapper finish.92/91. 50+ by the box. The 97 Napa is confirmation on buying the starting wines from solid producers. Medium ruby. High red fruits s on the nose with a nice spicy, currant, leather note added. All come over on the palate along with some plummy fruits. Good entry, solid center, and a 4 lapper finish. Still has another 1-2 to resolve some soft tannins. 90/91 34 by the box. WW

Heitz has always be a solid producer. Even remember when we could 'ford them!

Those sound great. That just reminded me that I still have a couple of these (the '97). I might just give one of these a shot. When aging some bottles, I feel like a kid on vacation and want to keep asking "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" or in this case "Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?"
