found this wine in my local super target, of all places. some distributor somewhere must have found a box stashed away. anyhow...

($20.99) garnet, with a bit of browning and some bricking at the rim. a deep, full nose of plums, cassis, cherry and spice. VG flavors of same, and a VG finish. full mouthfeel, with light, very fine tannins. excellent balance. this bottle is very close to the top of its game. best through '05. 91 pts.

remember: this bottle was just found on a store shelf. i have no idea of its provenance. if you have some that have been cellared since release, they might not be as mature as this particular bottle was.

Probably was a sell-out-- nice find!
Ah, how I love distributor sell-outs. Just bought some Pine Ridge for cheap thanks to a sell-out from my old company. Someday I need to get a little group of friends together so we can take full advantage of those gems that big dist. companies often overlook. When still selling I had one account offering a nice little bottle of wine for $6.95 and they were still making almost 200% off it!

Newsie, I'm sure I've posted on this wine. Look over the back posts for a Yar. WW

WW: your post from a few weeks back was on the 96 reserve. this was the regular napa valley bottling. out of 164 other mondavi mentions on this board, the only one i found on this wine was back in 99 from a board rookie who apparently just signed up to say that he didn't like the wine. well, i sure did.

You're rite Newasie, it was the Reserve. I must have missed the regular reelease as I don't have any. The memory is the 2nd thing tom go. WW
