1998 Mendocino Hill, Mendocino County, Cabernet Sauvignon ($15). Alcohol level 13.5%. Have absolutely no idea where this one came from. It was not purchased in Maine. It did not come from any of my usual haunts. Might have brought it back from California, but it is not one that would be in the places we frequent. Maybe one of you gave it to us.

We decanted it an hour before dinner through the decanter funnel, and it was a good thing. A lot of globy sediment. That's all the bad news.

It was ready. Gives you all the correct varietal aromas on the nose. Cassis and other black fruit there and upfront. Very complex with a lot of chocolate and other stuff across the palate. The finish rang at least three bells.

Matched with Stuffed Peppers, and salad with blue cheese dressing. Even had some with the chocolate cake for dessert.
