Opened way too early. Cassis, black cherry, cinnamon and dark chocolate notes. Full bodied with tons of dusty tannins from mid palate through the long finish. Very enjoyable. 14.2%Alc/vol. $20. Seems to have everything to be a stellar bottling with a little more age. Will hold the others a while longer before opening.

Thanks for the note Drew. I have one bottle of the Beringer KV C.S. (may be same vintage but I would have to check) and I was on my way to drinking it too soon. Will have to hold off a couple years at least.

We have a 3 liter bottle of the 1997 Knight's Valley Cab sitting in the back of the cellar. I've been wondering when would be a good time to open it - maybe the Weener might comment if he ever gets his puter straightened out.

Had a tough couple of weeks at work with unruly students and weapons and drug/alcohol violations so after an 11 hour day yesterday arrived home and popped another of these. Still very youthfull in appearance but very approachable. Cassis, dark fruit, dark cherry, blackberry, cinnamon flavors still show but are more concentrated and round. Classic Napa flavor profile and nose, which Eileen complained about as she likes her wines young. She did enjoy the flavors though. The wine finishes long with diminished, yet still abundant, dusty, sweet, tannins which add structure. I'd say the wine is peaking, it's very, very good now and will hold for another 5 to 8 easily.

Will have to find one of them suckers which will be easy in my well-organized cellar. WW

I've got a Knights Valley hiding somewhere but in my disorganized overflow wine boxes it may be hard to find. Not sure of the vintage but 2001 sounds about right.

I had a glass of this just the other night when my son visited me. I had it with rib eye steak. The boquet is just so wonderful. It has a very balanced texture... tastes like cherry with earthy flavors.

had a bottle of the '92 knight's valley recently and that sucker still could have used a few more years in the cellar (not that i have a cellar).

it simply amazes me that they are able to produce these long-lived bottlings and release them at such a reasonable price.

sorta makes you wonder why some other folks charge so much for their juice.
