Ric has been one of my favorite winemaker since the early 70s' when he took Sterling to heights thy've not seen since. Sourced from prime sites in Napa this is a gorgeous bottling. Medium ruby with no trace of ageing. Aromas of red cherries, plum, cassis and vanilla leaps from the glass. Silky entry, a solid center palate, and a super 4-lapper finish. Soft tannins still in the backgroun, this lovely bottle will improve another 2-4 and hold for another 7-10. 92/90. 40 by the box. WW

Found the last orphan in the cellar while rooting around yesterday. The only big change in the last 5 years are the aromatics. A killer saddle leather note and a touch of a sweet spice(cardamon?) are added and both come over on the palate. Have to kick this sucker up another point to 93. As usual, with meeny of these wines I have drinkers remorse! Bye-Bye Ole' Fren...WW
