A true crime against wine.....

1996 Pezzi King Cabernet Sauvignon; Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma - $22.00

Very dark color with excellent clarity. Nose of wood with some underlying fruit that is difficult to get to. On the palate, more lumber than one could find in the average 2,000 sq ft home with some hard to get to fruit. Coarse tannins are more than present and I don't see how the fruit could ever escape from beneath the pile of lumber and tannins. Even our next door neighbor, an occasional wine fan, thought it tasted "woody." I should also note that I am not a wood whimp and have even been known to enjoy a little oak in my wine when it's done right. Last Pezzi King I'll ever buy until they start a national "save the forest" campaign.
