Had lunch with a business associate from Georgia and BigRedWines yesterday and BRW and I drank most of the wine as my biz assoc is a beer drinker(YAH!!!). The 72 was astonishionly alive. Medium ruby with an orange rim the aroma still had the remnants of red and black fruits, sweet spice(cinnamon), and floral note. All came across on the palate. Knowing the penchant for old wines to fade quickly we didn't tarry but enjoyed every drop. I've had many wines from this Poor vintage that were surprisingly good. Notably both of the original Diamond Creek bottlings, Volcanic Hill and Red Rock Terrace, and Clos Du Vals zinfandel. The 94 Montlena Estate was stunning. Deep ruby. Nose pf berries, both red and black, earth, spice, and cigar box. Great entry, weighty center and a 4+ lapper finish. Still needs another 1-3 to shed some tannins but another in Barrets' long list of outstanding wines.91. 169 at Sportsmans. WW
