Next week I'll be on Cape Cod and Nantucket and will be attending the Nantucket Wine Festival. Any East Coasters going to be there? In addition to the Grand Wine Tasting at the Casino at 'Sconset (samples from all participating vintners) I am signed up for a horizontal tasting of DeLoach zinfandels and a vertical tasting of big white burgundies (Le Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne). (Hope I am still vertical after the tastings!) I will be attending a wine dinner at Cioppino's with Jed Steele wines once again. And I will attend an appetizer and wine reception for mingling with the winemakers. This year they are also offering symposia with winemakers on styles of winemaking and whether one should use as "natural" as possible an approach or improve on Mother Nature and make wines more predictable and consistent. I didn't sign up in advance for the symposia but may look into attending one once I'm on the island. So what if it's only 53 Fahrenheit on Nantucket--I'm going to have a great time anyway! Hope to run into my festival friends the ballerina and her dentist husband again.
