I'm going to try to attend both the Triangle Wine Experience in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area in February and the Charlotte Wine and Food event in April. The Vintners' dinners for the latter just went on the website today and some are already sold out (I think some banks and other big businesses buy blocks of tickets). I registered for the wine dinner at Upstream (a nice seafood restaurant) with wines from Miner Family, California. We will be sampling chardonnay, viogner, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and syrah, along with a Champagne. I don't think I've had any of their wines but have heard them highly recommended by some. Caymus dinner, Silver Oak and some others were sold out. I will also be attending a wine tasting where all vintners will be pouring, and a smaller tasting of 16 Pinot Noirs and Burgundies sponsored by Saintsbury. (Tough choice between that tasting and another small tasting led by Andrea Immer and a panel of female winemakers.) Joey, if you want to meet Andrea Immer, here's your opportunity. I hope I will meet her at least in passing--the Saintsbury and female winemakers' tastings are in the same building and at the same time, and Ms. Immer may be around after the tasting. (Maybe I can have her autograph my copy of her book.)
