Thanksgiving weekend is a great time to come visit the fine wineries of the premier Red Mountain American Viticulture Area (AVA) and nearby in the Benton City vicinity. Area wineries will be participating in the Thanksgiving in Wine Country celebration with special tastings and selected culinary pairings. Benton’s Best provides an added opportunity on Saturday, November 24, for winery visitors as well as area residents to experience the finest art, handcrafts, and food of Benton City.

Benton’s Best, a special holiday boutique event, will showcase local artists, craftspeople, and musicians. This showcase of art and beautiful handcrafted items offered up in a festive atmosphere will feature the wares of some of Benton City’s many talented artists and craftsmen, as well as exquisite baked goods, delectable goodies, and luncheon fare. Select local artisans will be displaying choice paintings and exceptional craft offerings sure to find a place on the most discriminating shopper’s holiday gift list. Visitors can also enjoy performances of seasonal and classical music while perusing the Desert Rose’s gallery of nostalgic yesteryear paintings of Benton City by local artist Bob Dunlap.

Special guest, Master Sommelier Angelo Tavernaro will be on hand during the afternoon to share fine wine tips and tales. He will give a presentation on the special characteristics of the Red Mountain AVA at 1 pm, and will speak about the future of Red Mountain at 3 pm.

Benton’s Best will be Saturday, November 24 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Desert Rose Activity Center, 510 14th St. in Benton City. Event proceeds will benefit the Karolina Lorz Foundation, a charitable trust organization perhaps best known for its donation of land and funding for the new Benton City library.
