1998 Chateau Pavie - TheEngineer - 08-11-2015 I brought this bottle with me to Hong Kong and popped that night. I am usually very concerned about bottle shock and certainty this bottle showed that as it was more muted than others that I've had....but. Still, what a bottle! True and classic bordeaux, even slightly muted, perhaps showed the balance a bit more, gravely, pure fruit, lush, perfectly assembled. This is a great bottle that will be like this for a long time. No no no rush at all......decades really! People did not realize that they were drinking a close to 20 year old wine. RE: 1998 Chateau Pavie - winoweenie - 08-12-2015 When things are darkest I can always count on the mity Eng to lift me spirits. One of my favs from Bordeaux I had a sip vicariously with you bubba and totally agree. WW RE: 1998 Chateau Pavie - TheEngineer - 08-12-2015 WW, I love this bottle and wish I had posted on this prior to this. This is perhaps my perfect definition of Bordeaux. A lush Lynch Bages crossed with a perhaps rogue Cos Estournel and the power of Latour. This is what I think of when I have this bottle. Frankly I've taken to buying this whenever I see it and now have a nice small stash to keep me happy RE: 1998 Chateau Pavie - winoweenie - 08-14-2015 Reminds me of my first encounter with the 1972 Diamond Creek which led to a lifetime friendship with Boots & Al Braunstein.
