Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin - TheEngineer - 03-31-2015

Oh boy!. I was looking forward to this for so long and something gave and allowed me to open it up.

This was was given a whole night to slowly open up which was nice. Initially tight still and not showing much, touch of brett, mostly leathery, and meaty at the beginning, it loosened up to show the characteristic herbs and red berries, leather, an minerality. And as the wine relaxed, so seemed the texture as well, contrastingly, smooth and lush but structured and just so well balanced. Ethereal and primal at the same time. This wine is a beast. Loved it from beginning to end.
