2009 Pine Ridge Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon - TheEngineer - 03-10-2013

Had not tasted a Pine Ridge in many years and after helping a friend catalogue his wines, and he had a lot of Pine ridge going back to the 70's.

This tasting was impressive. All solid wine making and very decent and compelling wines. I'll start of with the one that I perhaps liked the least. Not that it was a bad wine but for me, I sensed just a bit of lack of conviction to let Rutherford by itself shine.

Certainly all of the attributes of new oak, vanilla, cinnamon, hint of coco and cedar. Fruit was ripe but less so than the others when Rutehrford can do better. Just hints of the rutherford dust that I so enjoy when it is done right. Perhaps that is what I miss about this bottling, but then again few get this right. You get that in Cain's rutherford blends, you get that in many others but it is not prevent in all of the "rutherford" wines.

Decent.

Just to refresh our memory that we tend to forget the wineries that have been there since inception and focus on the newbies that may not make it until Tuesday; Beaulieu, Heitz, Caymus, and Frogs Leap(Times fun when you're having Flies). Dollar for dollar IMHO there's not a bottle on the market with the Q/V quotient that the BV Rutherford brings to market yearly. WWCool

I've only had the BV once and my memory being what it is, I thought it was a fab bottle!
