Port Ellen 9th ed vs Balvenie 12 - TheEngineer - 12-31-2012 Not meaning any disrespect as the balvenie is a nightly capper, I had this port Ellen today and it was great. Lithe, focused, slight sweetness in the midst of the austerity, amazing grace. Not wanting too much of a good thing, I though about a second dram of the PE but decided against it and went with my nightly this week. While normally quite acceptable, the balvenie in comparison felt jagged and overstuffed with oak, like it was trying of hard. Too bad about the price of PE nowadays....it would be nice to have had a chance to stock up. RE: Port Ellen 9th ed vs Balvenie 12 - TheEngineer - 11-21-2013 I've been trying to be a very very good boy. I had thought that I would try to make it through the year (and toast the new year in with the PE 9th ed.......) so much for that plan. nice @#$!% dram.......
