Magic Hat Hex - Innkeeper - 11-02-2012

Magic Hat (Burlington, VT) calls Hex their "Ourtoberfest" brew. Everything about this outfit is on the funky side, but their products are deadly serious. For example I'm sure you tried American "fest" brews from one outfit or another over the years and found they don't measure up to the real stuff from Bavaria.

Well this one does. It is made from German hops and German yeast; and it is spot on. It has been my go to brew for over a month now, and still have a few bottles left. Their winter brew will be the next on my agenda.

Unlike this one, most of their stuff is made with the English yeast that has been made famous throughout Northern New England by the owner of Shipyard products, who brought the yeast with him from England when he first landed a job here with Geary's of Portland.

Incidentally Geary's "Autumn" is almost as good as this one!

IK, I agree with you. I usually share a purchase of this with a few friends and it is a great beer.

Picked up what will probably be the last twelve pack of the season today. Looking forward to their winter brew that is a bock made with the English Ale yeast.
