I have stored these bottles since 1986. When will this wine reach it's peak. 10yrs,15yrs, past prime??

Both should be drinkable now, but I suspect the 85' will continue to improve with further aging. Don't think 84' was that great a year, so I'd probably pop the cork on that baby. Hope this helps.

Hi Kenc aand welcome to the board. WC was correct about the 84. It was a bad year in bordeaux and the faster you open it the better chance you have of at least getting wine instead of vinegar. The 85 on the other hand comes from a very good vintage and it was one of the stars of this vintage. You didn't elaborate on your storage, but if it's temperature controlled this is a classic wine that can go another 5 to 14 years. Just as an aside to illustrate the difference in the wines, the 84 is worth approx 100-125, and with probably no takers, and the 85 275-300. WW ( You would have had a hard time storing both bottles since 86 as the 85 Lafite wasn't released until the spring of 87

The unsolvable problem: how to store bottles before they're released
